It all ended in stalemate at the Emirate Stadium today as Arsenal were held in a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Mikel Arteta’s quest for Premier League title suffered setback as 10-man Arsenal side were forced to share point with the Seagulls this afternoon.
Few minutes into the first half, the North London club were put into the lead by German forward, Kai Havertz.
Bukayo Saka had won an aerial duel and laid a though ball to Kai Havertz who lobbed it past Brighton’s goalkeeper to give Arsenal 1-0 lead in the 38th minute.
Meanwhile, a reckless challenge on Brighton’s Joel Veltman saw Arsenal midfielder, Declan Rice, receiving a yellow card before the end of half time.
Few minutes into the second half, Rice was again booked, resulting to an automatic red card which left Arsenal with 10-man.
Brighton harped on the advantage and brought the game to a leveller in the 58th minutes courtesy Joao Pedro’s spoiler.
With both team failing to double their lead, the game ended in 1-1 draw.
However, result saw both Brighton and Arsenal as joint leader of the Premier League table with seven points each from three games.
