A 10-man Manchester United has, on Sunday, knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils pipped the Gunners at the Emirates stadium to advance to the next round with 5-3 penalty shootout victory.
Both teams were held to 1-1 across the 90 minutes full time as Arsenal failed to capitalize on Man United’s reduction to 10-man.
Portuguese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, opened the score sheet for Manchester United in the 52nd minute after a frustrating goalless halftime.
The Reuben Amorim-led side would suffer a setback nine minutes after as Diogo Dalot picked a second yellow card to reduce Manchester United to 10-man.
Capitalizing on United’s deficit, Arsenal pulled a 1-1 leveller courtesy Gabriel Magalhaes 63rd minute goal.
Kai Havertz came close to seal the game for Arsenal before full time but his effort was denied as Manchester United held on to the draw for another 30 minutes extra time.
With no goals from either sides, the game advanced to penalty shootout.
Leading the shootout for Manchester United was Bruno Fernandes who slotted the ball beyond the reach of Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya.
The Gunner’s captain, Martin Odegaard, brought the game back on 2-2 levels term with a well converted penalty kick.
United’s sensational teenager, Amad Diallo put the Red Devils back on the lead from the spot.
Arsenal would fail to return the favour as Kai Havertz shoot amiss.
With United converting the last three shootouts, the game ended in 4-6 aggregate to seal FA Cup Round 4 spot for Reuben Amorim side.
