Former President Goodluck Jonathan has paid tributes to his late boss, ex-President Umaru Yar’Adua, 13 years after his death.
Jonathan was a vice-president to the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua who succeeded former president Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007.
Yar’adua was the first civilian president who died in office on May 5th, 2010 at the age of 58.
Jonathan took over as acting President on Feb 9th 2010 and was later sworn-in as the President on May 5th, 2010.
Celebrating his boss, former Nigerian leader, Jonathan described late Yar’Adua‘s as a “great and selfless leader”.
He paid the tributes via via his Twitter handle on Friday, saying that his former boss lived above ethnic and religious sentiment adding that his public life inspired many positively.
“On this day thirteen years ago, our nation lost a great and selfless leader President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He was a man of peace, justice and accountability.
“We look back with appreciation to God for the gift his life and his impact in our nation.
“President Yar’Adua was an exemplary leader, who lived above ethnic and religious sentiment. And his public life inspired many positively.
“Today we remember him for his life of service, dedication and commitment to a united and prosperous nation.
“We will continue to remember him for his developmental strides and his commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria,” Jonathan wrote
