The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has given an update on the ongoing investigation of the Kaduna-Abuja Train derailment.
NPO Reported that a Kaduna-bound train had last week Tuesday derailed at KM 49 between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.
While confirming the incident, the NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, had initially claimed that only seven out of the 583 rescued passengers sustained varying degrees of injury.
However, the corporation in the latest update released on Wednesday disclosed that 20 were injured in the incident with nine out of the injured victims in critical condition.
The NRC which took full responsibility of the unfortunate incident noted that it had reached out to 510 injured passengers in the last seven days.
It also disclosed that one locomotive and four coaches have been evacuated from the scene of incident with efforts ongoing for the evacuation of the remaining one locomotive and four other coaches.
