JUST IN: Naira Marley Granted N2 million Bail


Nigerian music act, Naira Marley has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

For the continuation of his trial, the singer on Thursday appeared at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.

Born Azeez Fashola, the musician was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on an eleven-count charge for his alleged connection to advance fee fraud popularly called ‘Yahoo Yahoo’, cybercrime, possession of counterfeit cards and conspiracy.

His mother was also present at the court to witness today’s hearing.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo had on May 20, 2019, ordered that the musician be remanded in prison pending the resumption of hearing of his bail application today.

However, the singer was granted N2million bail by Justice Oweibo on Thursday with two sureties in like sum.

The judge ordered that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 10 while the other surety must own a landed property in Lagos state.
He adjourned till October 22 for trial to commence.
