Ex-Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Wednesday called on Nigerians to play their part in defence of the country’s democracy.
Saraki who was also the former governor of Kwara State made the call on his verified Twitter handle to commemorate the maiden June 12 Democracy Day.
According to him, democratic system of government must be Nigeria’s only option.
He said: “#DemocracyDay is a sombre commemoration of our nation’s history. It is a reminder that a government for, of, and by the people is and must be Nigeria’s only recourse.
“As we commemorate today, and remember our heroes like Chief MKO Abiola, we must all collectively commit to playing our own individual roles in the defence of Nigeria’s democracy. #DemocracyDay”
