We’re Upgrading Our Technology, Access Bank Apologises to Customers

Access Bank Plc on Thursday attributed some disruptions in the bank’s operation to its ongoing technology upgrade.

This is coming as the bank also apologized to its numerous customers over hitches being experienced in their transactions.

The Bank gave the clarification following expression of disappointments on Twitter by some of the bank’s customers.

The customers had alleged that the bank was delivering below standard after its merger with Diamond Bank Plc, earlier in the year.

Parts of their complaints were alleged unlawful charges, failed transactions, among others.

@FOnyeoziri – After dragging #Accessbank we need to drag other Banks also because tbh all Nigerian Banks deserve to be dragged. None is better than the other. Just throw away the whole sector and import a new one from China or something.

I have accounts with Diamond and now with #AccessBank. Now that they’ve seen our complains, I believe they will resolve all the issues as soon as possible.

To be honest some of the complaints I’m seeing on this #AccessBank trend are faced by every single bank in Nigeria. I believe Access Bank are smart enough to iron this out with immediate effect.

@Josylad – Like I said weeks ago, Accessbank problem started after merging with Diamond bank. The merge has been more of a curse than blessing. #Accessbank

@RealDreylo – Access Bank might have issues but don’t forget other banks. The dragging should be extended to all commercial banks, there’s one bank that took 1k from me and I haven’t seen it for over 2 months. I believe Access Bank will serve you better after this. #Accessbank

My mum uses Diamond Bank which is now merged with #AccessBank . I can say all of these are issues that will get resolved once you give them some time. My mum has never had any complain tho.

However, the bank on its Twitter handle @myaccessbank, explained that the challenges were due to ongoing technology upgrade.

“Dear Customer, at Access Bank, you mean everything to us! To ensure that we provide you with the highest level of service, we have embarked on a journey to upgrade our technology.

“We know that there have been periods where our customers may have experienced disruptions; we are very sorry and are working to resolve this ASAP! During this last phase of our upgrade, there may be a few short periods of service interruptions. #AccessBank

“of our channels are available throughout the month, and will be even faster and easier once the upgrade is concluded.” Access Bank said in a series of tweets on its handle.

Furthermore, the bank asked customers having issues with any of its channel to try other alternatives which include its: Mobile App; Internet Banking,  USSD code: *901# or *426#,  ATMs, or its WhatsApp Banking on +234 909 090 1901.
