Frontline agronomist in Nigeria and a popular hotelier Dr. Lekan Are has died.
His death was announced today by the authorities of the University College Hospital Ibadan.
A spokesman of the tertiary medical institution Toye Akinriola said Are died after a brief illness that brought him to the facility.
Are was the founder of the popular Ibadan Hotel Kakanfo Inn which sits atop of a hilly settlement off Ring Road in the ancient city.
A boardroom giant before his death as well, Are was on the board of Punch Newspapers a news organization where he also wielded huge influence.
Are was also at one time General Manager of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority.
