The rank presidential aspirants keeps swelling as former Managing Director of FSB International Bank, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has declared his intention to join the race.
Hayatu-Deeen, known to be technocrat from the Northern part of Nigeria said he is seeking to rule Nigeria on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Addressing journalists amidst associates in Lagos, Hayatu-Deen said his mission joining the race is to reunite Nigeria and create a new country.
Harping on what he called a national rebirth, the economist said Nigeria requires a new kind of leadership that would bring about the needed change.
Speaking on zoning, Hayatu-Deen said this is the talk among party leaders and nothing binding on the generality of Nigerians.
He said, “Zoning is the exclusive preserve of the party leadership in terms of what is it that they want to do. I didn’t come through the backdoor; I came through the front door to express my interest. It is a matter for the party to decide.”
On the kind of leaders Nigeria needs, he said, “Therefore, we need an unusual kind of leader fully equipped with the type of skills, character and experience to safely navigate the Nigerian people out of these stormy waters to a much brighter and better place reflective of the nation’s rich potential for greatness. I believe I am that person who can provide such uncommon leadership with clarity, conviction and dynamism.
“I believe I have a good grasp of the opportunities and challenges confronting this country, and I amply possess the skills, background and experience to do the job. I was born here, went to school here and worked here all my life. So, I saw this country go through many of its peaks and valleys,” he explained.
