The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa has received the peace torch ahead of the 2024 Golf Fore Peace tournament.
The Peace Torch was presented to the Army Chief by the tournament’s organizers IBB Golf Course, led by Kemi Olowoyo-Otegbade, at the Defence Headquarters. Abuja, on Monday.
In her address to the CDS, Olowoyo-Otegbade said the vision of the tournament is to preach peace round the nation.
She explained that the invite of the Army Chief is part of the Club’s effort to key into Gen. Musa’s approach of maintaining peace and security in the country.
“We have other peace ambassadors, but he is the lead peace advocate for Golf Fore Peace. We key into his approach of maintaining peace and security in the nation.
“The vision is to take peace round the nation. That is why we move from our own club to other clubs- especially the military club.
“Maybe next year we may be in Lagos or elsewhere.
“But we are preaching peace. We are not domiciling peace to people in our club alone so that the message is not lost, and people will know that we are not playing.
“We are also trying to partner with the vision of our Lead Peace Advocate.” Olowoyo-Otegbade said.
Meanwhile, the main event is slated to hold on the 23rd of November 2024 at TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club, Yaradua Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja.
According to the organizers, the event will feature golf course, entertainment, networking, culture, and address by the CDS on peace.
Also present at the torch presentation is the Chairman, Organising Committee; GOLF FORE PEACE 2024, Abimbola Ajinibi.
