Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has charged the players to maintain full focus ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Chelle gave the charge while addressing newsmen on Monday evening.
The Nigerian national team are set to host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium on Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the match, Chelle reflected on the Super Eagles’ last week victory against Rwanda at Kigali.
The win had seen them climbed to the fourth spot on the Group C table with six points.
While hoping the team will replicate same winning mentality against Zimbabwe, Chelle called for full focus as he admitted that the Warriors might prove a hard nut to crack for the Super Eagles.
“It was just one game. We did the job. I said I was happy for my player and the country.
“But this is just one game. After the game I said we need to be focused on the second game. It is the most important now.
“I’m proud of my players with what they did in Rwanda. It was very difficult, but they did the job.
“We need to go to the pitch to prepare. It will not be easy because Zimbabwe has a good team with good player and good coach. We need to be focused on our team to do the job tomorrow.” the Super Eagles manager said.
On his part, the team’s captain, Williams Troost-Ekong, assured that the Super Eagles will capitalize on home advantage against Zimbabwe.
“The game against Rwanda now is something in the past.
“We were happy with our start but now we focused 100 percent on the game tomorrow against Zimbabwe.
“As we’ve learnt over the years, there is no such thing as easy game in Africa for qualifications.
“They are very motivated as well. But I know that being here in Uyo is an advantage for us. So, we are preparing to continue the work we started last week.” He said.
