President Bola Tinubu has vowed to ensure that the allocation of 2026 budget is executed with stronger discipline.
Tinubu made the vow during his address before the joint National Assembly session on Friday.
The President, who is set to present the 2026 budget estimated to be N58.47 trillion, directed the Minister of Finance, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Accountant General of the Federation, and the Director-General of Budget to ensure strict implementation of the budget.
“Let me be clear, 2026 will be a year of stronger discipline in budget execution.
“I have issued directives to the Ministers of Finance, Budget, the AGF, and the DG of Budget to ensure that the 2026 budget is implemented strictly in line with appropriate details and timelines.” Tinubu said.
He expressed optimism on improved revenue performance in 2026 while reassuring Nigerians of positive overturn of the country fiscal architecture with the ongoing reforms.
“We expect improved revenue performance through the new year.
“The new national tax act and ongoing reform in the oil and gas sector are not designed merely to raise revenue but to drive transparency, efficiency, fairness, and long-term value in our fiscal architecture.” Tinubu added.
