Demands Clarification on Real-Time e-Transmission of Results

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide clarification on controversies surrounding the real-time electronic transmission of results in order to ensure credible conduct of the 2027 General Election.
ADC gave the charge in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, in reaction to the INEC’s release of the 2027 election timetable.
While commending the commending the commission for the timely release of the timetable, the ADC maintained that the credibility of the poll will not be judged by timeliness alone.
The party harped on the need for INEC to ensure transparency, technological integrity, and strict adherence to due process throughout the electoral cycle.
ADC urged the commission to provide early and unambiguous clarity to Nigerians on its readiness to adopt the real-time electronic transmission of results
The statement read; “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) welcomes the early release of the timetable for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, which provides political parties, stakeholders, and the Nigerian electorate with needed clarity for long-term planning and democratic preparation.
“However, the credibility of the 2027 general elections will ultimately not be judged by the timeliness of the timetable alone, but by the Commission’s demonstrable commitment to transparency, technological integrity, and strict adherence to due process throughout the electoral cycle.
“Of particular importance is the question of real-time electronic transmission of results.
“While the Commission has indicated that it will operate within the ambits of the law, the current Electoral Act still leaves procedural discretion in critical areas that directly affect public confidence.
“The ADC therefore urges INEC to provide early and unambiguous clarity to Nigerians on its readiness to adopt the real-time electronic transmission of results.”
