The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged the Southeasterners to vote for President Bola Tinubu who he considered a better option for the development of the region than the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for the 2027 Presidential Election, Peter Obi.
Umahi made the plea while speaking during project inspection exercise on Monday.
The minister harped on the need for the southeast to be strategic in their decision, stressing that their vote alone cannot make Obi win the poll.
‘Vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Southeast must know that our votes alone cannot make His Excellency, Peter Obi, to be President. We have to be strategic.’ He said.
Umahi however clarified that he had no grudge against Obi as he described him as his colleague and friend.
‘For those that misunderstand us, Obi is my friend. He is my colleague. We were governors. He might be the senior one, but governor is governor.
‘We also contested Presidential intention together. But he didn’t get and I didn’t get. But I’m happy with the President I serve now that got it.’ He said.
The minister however reiterated his call for the southeast support of Tinubu’s candidacy in 2027 based on the ongoing projects initiated by the president across the country.
‘Automatically by the reason of what he is doing across the country, I continue to say to the people of the Southeast that I’m on the ballot.
‘The ballot is about democracy. It is about what you bring for your people, and I have the bragging right to the glory of God.’ He said.
