Former Lagos State governorship candidate, Funsho Doherty, has again declared interest in the 2027 Lagos gubernatorial election.
Doherty declared his interest in the governorship race while addressing Lagos stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)- a party he recently rejoined weeks after resigning his membership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
As captured in a video shared on X on Friday by the ADC Vanguard, the coalition mobilization wing of the party, Doherty expressed optimism of emerging the next governor of Lagos state.
“With all humility, I would like to announce my candidacy to be the next governor of Lagos state,” Doherty said.
Reacting to the development, the ADC Lagos State Chapter Chairman, George Ashiru, welcomed Doherty back to the party where he contested for the governorship seat in 2023 before his temporal defection to the PDP.
“By the power vested in me as the state chairman of the ADC, I welcome my brother back to the party and we receive his declaration to run for governorship.” He wrote.
