Seyi Simon, a 25-year-old student of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, Niger State, has been stabbed to death during a fight at Freshers Party.
As co firmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Niger state police command’s spokesperspn, Wasi’u Abiodun, the incident occurred after fight broke put between Simon and an 18-year-old Jafar Musa during the partu organised for new students.
“At about 1.40am, it was reported at A Division Kontagora that during a party organised by the students for the newly admitted students, there was a misunderstanding,
“The faceoff between the 18-year-old Jafar Musa of the Angwan-Gwari area of Kontagora and Seyi Simon, who is a student of the school, led to a fight between the duo,” Abiodun explained.
During the confrontation, Musa reportedly used a dagger on Simon.
“Unfortunately, Musa stabbed the student with a dagger, who was rushed to the General Hospital, Kontagora, where he was confirmed dead,” the spokesman stated.
The police confirmed that Musa has since been arrested with authorities calling on students to remain calm while investigations continue.
Police also urged the public to avoid spreading rumours as the case is being investigated.
