Police say the driver of a car which crashed into people in the German city of Munich is a 24-year-old Afghan national.
At least 28 people have been injured, at least two seriously, police say – they earlier said “several” people were critically hurt.
Officers are treating the incident as a “suspected attack”, and local officials say the suspect was known to police for theft and drug offences.
Local reports say the car drove into a trade union demonstration.
The incident happened hours before US Vice-President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were due to arrive in the city for a security conference.
