The family of legendary Nigerian afrobeat singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known 2Baba, has filed a petition against his wife and Edo state lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, over alleged assault on singer and substance abuse.
This is coming under the heels of ongoing controversies surrounding the relationship of the couple barely a year after their marriage.
NPO Reported that 2Baba and Natasha had come under the spotlight earlier this week following a viral video of the Edo lawmaker captured shouting at the singer in a London mall.
This would be followed by disclosure of Natasha’s persistent assault of the singer as well as her control of his finances and musical career.
In a recent development on the singer’s fresh marital crisis, the Idibia family filed a petition against Natasha.
As contained in the petition dated 12th of November and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Idibia family filed six allegations against Natasha which, alongside her assault of the singer and substance abuse, included alleged financial misappropriation, seizure of 2Baba’s personal property, and reputational damage amongst others.
The family called for the Nigerian Police Force intervention and investigation as they alleged that the events have causes 2Baba severe emotional distress, financial hardship, and public embarrassment.
The petition, as shared on X on Thursday, read in part; “We, the undersigned members of the Idibia family, write this petition to formally request the intervention of the Nigeria Police Force in investigating a series of disturbing incidents allegedly involving Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru and our son and brother, Mr. Ujah Idibia (aka 2Baba).
“Based on information and complaints brought to our attention by Mr. laibia and other concerned witnesses, the following issues have been raised for investigation:
“1. Alleged physical assault incidents in both the United Kingdom and Abuja by Miss Natasha Irabosa Osawaru to Mr. Innocent Idibia aka 28aba.
2. Alleged unauthorized access and transfer of funds from Mr. Innocent Ujah Idibia’s phone and bank accounts by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru.
