Bauchi State Police Command has detained a 37-year-old man for alleged abduction and sodomising of two teenage boys.
This was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, while addressing the Press yesterday.
He said the suspect would be prosecuted upon concluding the investigation.
Narrating how the suspect was arrested, Wakil said the command’s operatives, on receipt of a complaint of inhuman treatment, apprehended the suspect for alleged abduction and sodomising two Almajiri boys under his care at a Quranic school.
The spokesperson disclosed that the suspect allegedly lured his first 12-year-old victim at a Quranic school in Kano to Daura under the pretence of starting a business.
“He then encountered the second 13-year-old victim, and brought them both to Bauchi, where he began abusing one of the boys inside a mosque,” he said.
Wakil said with an intelligence report, detectives attached to the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, were able to apprehend the suspect.
The command’s spokesperson, however, appealed to the public to provide information that could help locate either the parents or guardians of the victims.
