An 82-year-old man, Clement Okonjo, has bagged 12 years jail term after being convicted on forgery.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to the statement, Okonjo was arraigned by the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate on January 17, 2023.
Upon his arraignment, the octogenarian pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge filed against him.
This set the stage for his trial which finally ended today as Justice F.A Olubanjo of the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, convicted and served him the 12 years prison sentence.
