Former Leicester City boss, Enzo Maresca, returned to the King Power stadium on Saturday to haunt the Foxes suffered 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea.
Maresca led his London side to Leicester City for another Saturday’s Premier League showdown.
Looking for a return to winning ways after 1-1 draw with Arsenal before the International break, Chelsea wasted no time to impose their dominance on Leicester City’s home turf.
Senegalese forward, Nicolas Jackson, put the Blues into an early lead as he slotted in a cheeky pass from Enzo Fernandez in the 15th minute.
Chelsea marinated their dominance in the halftime and came close to doubling the lead in the 32nd minutes, but Marc Cucurella was ruled offside.
Another late minute effort from Chelsea’s winger, Noni Madueke, went wide as the halftime ended 1-0.
The second half saw Leicester City trying to get back into the game, but the host were unable to get off Chelsea’s dominance.
The visitors created many chances but failed to capitalize on them.
However, Enzo Fernandez would double Chelsea’s lead with a 75th minute header.
The Argentine midfielder latched home a loose save from Leicester City’s goalkeeper, Mad Hermansen, who had denied Nicholas Jackson’s brace attempt from a cross by Marc Cucurella.
With nine minutes extra time left before the final whistle, the Enzo Maresca-led side thought the game was sealed.
Unfortunately, a foul in the visitor’s box by Romeo Lavia would give Leicester City a chance to reduce the goal deficit.
Ghanaian striker, Jordan Ayew, stepped in to pull one back for the host from the spot to deny Chelsea a cleansheet as the game ended 2-1.
Meanwhile, the win sees Chelsea stand third on the Premier League table with 22 points across 12 games.
