Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM, broke down in tears during his first public address after his release on bail.
The popular Ibadan media personality, who was arrested and remanded over his alleged involvement in the tragic Ibadan stampede, became emotional as he arrived at the radio station on Tuesday.
As seen in a post on X, Oriyomi, in a very short address to the crowd who had stormed the station to welcome him, expressed his gratitude to the public for their concern as he urged them to leave.
“This is a period of silence for me. Thank you very much.” he said as he leaves stage.
Recall that the media personality was arrested alongside former wife of Ooni of Ife, Queen Naomi Silekunola, and six others over the organization of the ill-fated children funfair in Ibadan which claimed 35 lives after stampede erupted.
An Oyo State High Court had, on Monday, granted N10 million bail each to Hamzat, Queen Naomi, and the principal of the Islamic High School where the incident occurred.
The bail condition also included two sureties who must submit landed documents within the jurisdiction of the court.
Justice K. B Olawoyin, who presided over the hearing, also said the sureties must submit their international passport with the court, while the defendant must not grant any form of interview during the pendency of the case.
