Brighton has sank Manchester United’s recently found form as they secured a 3-1 victory against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
The Seagulls had travelled to Manchester for another Premier League showdown on Sunday.
Coming straight from a 3-1 win against Southampton, Manchester United hoped to maintain their winning form against Brighton.
The Reuben Amorim-led side, however, kicked off with a shaky start as Yankuba Minteh fired Brighton into an early lead in the 5th minute.
Man United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, pulled a 1-1 leveller from the spot after Joshua Zirkzee was brought down in the penalty box.
With the game ending 1-1 at halftime, Brighton showed no sign of relenting as Joao Pedro found the back of the net eight minutes into the second half.
His goal was, however, disallowed to bring the game back to 1-1.
Brighton maintained their offensive run against Manchester United’s defense.
The visitors would eventually break United’s defense line with Kaoru Mitoma restoring their lead in the 60th minute with Brighton second shot on target.
A defensive blunder from United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana gifted Brighton their third goal as Georginio Rutter latched on a loose ball to seal a 3-1 win for Brighton.
Manchester United’s defeat leaves them in 13th place on the Premier League table with 26 points across 22 games while Brighton leapfrogged to 9th place with 34 points.
