The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) group has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the immediate reversal of the 50 percent hike in telecommunications tariff.
Reacting to the approval of the hike by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), SERAP chaged President Bola Tinubu and telecommunicaton companies to reverse the unlawful increment in the next 48 hours or risk facing legal action..
This was contained in a statement issued on the socio-economic accountability group’s official X handle on Tuesday.
“The Tinubu administration and telcos must immediately reverse the unlawful increase in calls and data costs. We’ll see in court if the 50% tariff hike is not reversed within 48 hours.” SERAP wrote.
NPO reported that the NCC had yesterday approved the telcos demand for tariff increment.
This has, however, been met with strong disapproval from subscribers and other members of the public.
