Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has been released from a United Kingdom prison.
This was disclosed in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to the post, a reliable source confirmed the development, adding that Mrs. Ekweremadu arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that Senator Ekweremadu, his wife, and Dr. Obinna Obeta were convicted by a UK court for their involvement in an organ harvesting case.
The former Deputy Senate President received a 10-year prison sentence, while Mrs. Ekweremadu was sentenced to six years.
Her return has sparked celebrations across Enugu State, with many expressing hopes for the swift return of Senator Ekweremadu.
