Barely few days after Washington DC’s airplane collision with a military jet which claimed over 60 lives, another plane has, on Friday evening, crashed at a residential neighbourhood of Northeast Philadelphia, leaving multiple casualties.
The Learjet 55, was en route from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, when it went down just after 6 p.m. near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.
According to a post shared on X on Saturday, the plane was on a medical assignment and had at least two people on board.
Following the crash, a large fire reportedly ignited, with several vehicles burning in the aftermath.
Witnesses described the crash as “horrific,” with one saying the explosion “lit up the whole sky.”
In swift response, authorities have issued a ground stop at Northeast Philadelphia Airport while the FAA and NTSB investigate.
Local officials, including Governor Josh Shapiro and Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, are closely monitoring the situation.
