Students in their numbers on Tuesday, gathered in Ibadan to protest against the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities across the country
Students were seen in front of University of Ibadan with different inscriptions on placards which spoke to their demands for the institutions to reopened for academic activities to resume.
The union, through its President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, has hinted that the union may extend its strike after the initial one month wraning which was extended by three months.
Varsity teachers are demanding proper funding of public universities and scaling up of their salaries and allowances.
Nigerians have condemned the government for being insensitive to the situation in the tertiary institutions.
Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, has gone ahead to obtain the nomination form for presidential election while Minister of Labour and Productivity who is central to the negotiations has busied himself with consultations for the same presidential ambition.
