The Trade Union Congress’ (TUC), Festus Osifo, has been re-elected for another four-year term.
Osifo was returned to office alongside 18 other members of the executive on Friday evening in Abuja during the union’s inaugural quadrennial National Delegate Conference.
The executives were all unopposed in their re-election bid.
According to reports, Osifo’s re-election came just as the President, Bola Tinubu counseled affiliate unions of both the TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress to always prioritise transparency in the election of their leaders.
In his address after the re-election, Osifo expressed his gratitude to the TUC’s delegates for the renewed mandate.
He pledged to “work day and night” in advancing the interests of Nigerian workers.
Osifo also outlined agenda for his new term, including intensified advocacy for better remuneration, increased state subventions, and the establishment of national secretariats across all states.
