President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rasheed Hadiyyatullah, has died.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Council.
According to the statement, Hadiyyatullah passed away yesterday.
The prominent Islamic scholar, who doubled as the Principal and Director of Sheikh In Baz Shariah College of Nigeria, was hailed for his dedication to the service of Islam, teaching, and guidance, with sincerity and wisdom.
According to the statement, Janazah prayer is slated to be held for him by 2pm today at Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College, Iwo, Osun State.
The Council urged all Muslims to put him in prayer and ask for Allah’s acceptance of his lifetime of service and reward him in abundance.
The statement read in part; “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un”
“With hearts full of sadness but content with the decree of Allah, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Sheikh Abdur-Rasheed Hadiyyatullah (Adiatu),
the President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, and the Proprietor and Director of Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College of Nigeria.
“Sheikh was a respected Islamic scholar who dedicated his life to the service of Islam, teaching, and guidance, with sincerity and wisdom.
“His knowledge, humility, and devotion to the Ummah will be deeply missed.
“He returned to the mercy of Allah today, Monday, 28th April 2025 (29th Shawal 1446 AH).
“We ask Allah (SWT) to forgive him, have mercy upon him, expand his grave, fill it with light, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus.
“We also pray that Allah grants patience and strength to his family and students.
“Insha Allah, the Janazah prayer will be performed at 2:00 PM
at Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College, Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria.
“We request all to make sincere du’a for him, asking Allah to accept his lifetime of service and reward him abundantly in the Hereafter.”
