The Federal High Court, Abuja, has given the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) 24 hours ultimatum to release Nigerian businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu.
NPO Reported that Achimugu had arrived at the court earlier on Wednesday.
The businesswoman, who was accompanied to the court by two female EFCC officials was arrested by the commission following her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday.
This was barely 24 hours after the court ordered Achimugu to honour the EFCC’s summon over alleged money laundering and criminal conspiracy amongst other charges.
In compliance with the court’s order, the businesswoman arrived at the Abuja airport where she was immediately arrested and detained in the EFCC’s custody.
In his ruling today, the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the EFCC to release Achimugu within 24 hours.
Justice Ekwo also ordered that the parties report to the court on May 2nd on the outcome of his order.
