The call for the release of Nigerian social media influencer and activist, Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) has transcended nation’s border as an American woman gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) 48 hours ultimatum to free the activist.
As captured in a now viral video shared on Instagram on Sunday, the elderly woman condemned the arrest of VeryDarkMan like a terrorist.
She warned the EFCC over the unlawful arrest and detention of the activist as she issued the 48 hours ultimatum.
“Hello EFCC. This is a serious warning and I hope you guys listen. You cannot arrest VeryDarkMan, a freedom fighter, like a terrorist leader.
“You guys should free VeryDarkMan within the next 48 hours.” She said.

The middle-aged man had in a video shared on X recounted how VDM had helped him when he was scammed by a Tanzanian.
He held that VeryDarkMan is a good man and cannot commit offence worth being arrested by the EFCC.
Recall that the activist was arrested on Friday after following his mother to a branch of Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank) in Garki, Abuja, over the deduction of the woman’s salary in settlement of a loan she allegedly took.
VDM was allegedly locked in the bank’s security door for five minutes to aid his arrest by a group of armed EFCC operatives.
He was arrested alongside his friend.
While, the EFCC is yet to make any official statement as regards the activist’s arrest, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, claimed VDM was arrested under the warrant issued by a Chief Magistrate who accused him of cyber stalking.
