Popular Nigerian socialite, Isaac Fayose, has on Tuesday joined protesters in agitation for the release of detained social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
The brother of former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, was spotted among the protesters at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
NPO Reported that the protesters had again converged across the country in agitation for the release of VeryDarkMan, who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday.
The anti-graft agency’s initial silence about the arrest and detention of the activist had seen what started as an online campaign plummeted into full blown protest which began yesterday.
Following mounting pressure from the protesters and other members of the public, the commission released a statement earlier on Tuesday confirming that the activist is in its custody.
The EFCC claimed that VDM was arrested on account of series of petition bordering on alleged financial infractions filed against him.
While further claiming to have sent invitations to the activist which he allegedly turned down, the EFCC disclosed, in the statement, that he has been granted administrative bail and will be released once the bail conditions are fulfilled.
This, as captured in a video shared on X, sparked jubilation among the protesters in Abuja with Isaac Fayose seen leading the protesters in victory song.
