Crystal Palace has won its first major trophy in 31 Years as they edged past Manchester City in 1-0 win at the FA Cup final.
The London club shattered the Cityzen’s hope for a title as they broke their trophy drought at the Wembley stadium on Saturday.
A first-half goal from Eberechi Eze and Dean Henderson’s heroic penalty save were what Crystal Palace needed to win their first major trophy.
Eze scored from Palace’s very first attack in the 16th minute with a superb finish from Daniel Munoz’s cross, after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s brilliant hold-up play started the move.
A 36th minute foul on Bernardo Silva by Tyrick Mitchell gave Man City chance to equalize, but former Manchester United goalie Henderson – who earlier survived a VAR check for a possible red card – saved Omar Marmoush’s effort.
The seven-time winners went close after the break, though Daichi Kamada and Munoz produced vital blocks and Henderson saved substitute Claudio Echeverri’s deflected shot as Palace defended valiantly to secure their side’s greatest victory.
