Nigerians have expressed anger over the alleged poor handling of the face off.
Many have accused the government of insensitivity.
President of the Students Union, University of Ilorin, Taofik Waliu Opeyemi told NPO Reports after the protests that “It is over 80 days that we have been at home due to the lingering strike. That was the basis in which the leadership of the Student Union decided to organize a peaceful protest to communicate with the federal government via media houses.
“We’re hopeful that our plea will guide the government in the negotiation process next week during their meeting with ASUU and we will return to school in no time.
“If there is no positive result from the meeting, we will most likely reconvene and then, it will be tough.”
