Super Falcons’ forward, Asisat Oshoala, and defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, have both returned to the national team as coach Justin Madugu released players’ list for the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations.
Oshoala who plied her trade at American Women Major League Soccer side, Bay FC, and Saudi Arabian Ittihad Ladies FC’ player, Plumptre, made it to the list released on Fridayby the Super Falcons’ boss.
Also in the squad list is captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and 11 players set to make their debuts at the tournament.
Three players from the Nigerian Women Professional Football League (NWPFL) are also included in the team to represent Nigeria at the tournament slated to hold in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2024.
Nasarawa Amazons goalkeeper, Rachael Unachukwu, will join veteran Tochukwu Oluehi to provide backup for Super Falcons number one, Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Her fellow club teammate, Sikiratu Isah, formed part of the national teams defense alongside Edo Queens’ Miracle Usani.
The midfield boasted of top stars which include Halimatu Ayinde, Deborah Abiodun, and Toni Payne amongst others.
Oshoala who will be leading the attack is joined by the likes of veteran Francisca Ordega, Esther Okoronkwo, as well as newbie Omorinsola Babajide and others.
The Super Falcons, in what has been labelled Mission X, are on the verge of maintaining their dominance as African women football powerhouse as they look forward to securing a tenth WAFCON trophy in Morocco.
