The youngest cabinet appointee in the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, Ahmed Zakari, has declared his intention to contest for the seat of the Governor of Jigawa state under the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress.
Zakari, who is the Special Adviser to the President on Infrastructure made this known in a tweet on Tuesday morning.
“I’m 38, youngest cabinet level appointee in the Buhari administration, degrees in Engineering, Economics. In 15 years at General Electric working in 20 countries and I’m vying to be the next Governor of Jigawa (APC). This is for all young people that will be encouraged to participate.”
Zakari, in his tweet, briefed on his achievements as an individual from being the youngest in the President’s cabinet to having an impressive career at General Electric.
He said he has garnered ample experience to drive the state to prosperity adding that he became the youngest executive at the General Electric.
“With my requisite experience in Engineering, Economics, Finance and Administration gathered from years working and studying across the globe and in Nigeria, I believe (if given the opportunity), I can build on the great legacy of His Excellency Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.
“I have always been an early starter. I became the youngest African Executive in the history of General Electric’s renowned CAS program at the age of 28. I started repositioning and managing multibillion dollar businesses in GE at the age of 29.”
Zakari is attached to the office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and he is one of the seven Special Advisers appointed by the President.
