The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has again come under spotlight over alleged allocation of 2,082 hectares of land worth $3.6 billion to his son, Joaquin Wike.
This was disclosed in a exclusive report by Peoples Gazette with a leaked document of the alleged allocation shared on X on Thursday.
According to the report, Joaquin Wike allegedlyreceived at least 2,000 hectares, or 40,000 plots, in Maitama, Asokoro, Guzape and other parts of Abuja.
Officials estimated that the hectares Mr Wike has issued to his son, along with certificates of occupancy, are worth at least $3.6 billion.
Further findings revealed that plot in Maitama and Asokoro, where Mr Wike gave his son at least seven hectares total, was recently sold for $1.28 and $1.4 million, respectively, according to documents reviewed.
While the leaked document indicated a company, Joaq Farms and Estates Ltd, as the land receipient of the allocated land, the report claimed that the company was registered on October 10, 2024 with it’s address, 13, Thaba Tseka Street, Wuse II, allegedly associated with Wike and his numerous fronts in the Nigerian capital.
The FCT Minister was further alleged to have on May 30 personally signed the allocation of about 2.3 hectares for his son in Gaduwa District, where development has intensified in recent years.
He also allegedly seized land in the Central Area that was previously granted to the Austrian mission in Nigeria, reallocating the lucrative assets to himself.
Some unidentified officials of the Minister reportedly claimed that Joaquin can easily earn more than $3.6 billion on the assets.
“He has certificates of occupancy for all the lands, that’s what makes it even more lucrative,” one of the official said.
The allegations had however sparked outrage from netizens with some calling for probe and sacking of the Minister.

“$3.6 billion… ??? that’s the estimated cost of damages incurred by Israel during its 12-day war with Iran, with funds needed both to repair missile-hit buildings and pay compensation to local businesses”@realuweeze

“Lots of the people that were supporting APC cannot eat comfortably and most definitely are being dragged backwards because of the economic situation of the country but here our politicians are enriching themselves everyday.”@Irunnia
