The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed the highest scorer at the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This was announced by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, at the board’s policy meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
As disclosed by Oloyede, Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State polled the highest scores with 375 out of a maximum score of 400.
The top scorer picked the University of Lagos (UNILAG as his first choice with Mechanical Engineering as his course of study.
Trailing behind Okeke is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State who polled 374.
On his part, Ayuba picked Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his first choice with Mechanical Engineering also as his course of study.
Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State settled for the third spot with 373 marks and UNILAG as his first choice.
Like Okeke and Ayuba, Jimoh also selected Mechanical Engineering as his course of study.
NPO earlier Reported JAMB’s introduction of a new score ranking system for UTME which will take effect from 2026.
According to JAMB, the initiative will see each candidate’s result slip include their national ranking among peers.
This is reportedly aimed at discouraging the celebration of high UTME scores in isolation and curbing the spread of fake scores.
The board maintained that by publishing ranking information, candidates parading falsified scores would also be discouraged, and institutions would gain a clearer sense of the academic standing of each applicant.
It further noted that the initiative will assist institutions in better evaluating the quality of applicants and provide a standardised reference point across cohorts.
