President Bola Tinubu has charged the Super Falcons of Nigeria to win the ongoing 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following their 2-1 victory over arch rival, South Africa, at the semi-final.
NPO Reported that Nigerian women’s national team had yesterday edged past the defending champions to seal the first spot in the final as they eye a title continental title dubbed the Mission X.
In the wake of the Super Falcons’ victory over the Bayana Bayana, Tinubu congratulated the team in a statement issued on his official X handle.
The President hailed the Super Falcons for their display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.
He charged them to bring the trophy home, adding that the whole nation is strongly behind them in their quest for the 10th title.
“Your incredible #WAFCON2024 semi-finals victory over South Africa today was nothing short of superlative. It was a magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.
“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home. Go for our 10th title.
“Nigerians worldwide are rooting for you. We are waiting to receive the cup.” Tinubu wrote.
The Super Falcons will be facing the host nation, Morocco, on Saturday following the north Africans victory against Ghana.
Morocco had in the second semi-final match denied Nigeria what would have been a West African jollof derby as they edged past the Black Queens on penalty shootout.
