The Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has arrived in Abuja with their seventh FIBA Women’s Afrobasket trophy.
NPO Reported the D’Tigress’ successful defence of the title for the fifth time in a row at the Cote D’Ivoire.
The Nigerian basketball team edged past Mali with 78-64 points victory at the final match played on Sunday.
Prior to the match, President Bola Tinubu, had sent a nine-delegate to Abdijan to support the D’Tigress while charging the team to bring the trophy home.
The team would live up to the President’s expectation as they shrugged off a shaky start to dominate the Malian team.
As captured in a post shared on X on Monday, the D’Tigress landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport with the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, Abuja.
This is coming barely two weeks, after their football counterparts, the Super Falcons received hero’s welcome with their 10th Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
In a similar version, the team is set to be hosted by the President.
It however remained unclear D’Tigress will be receiving sme grand reception and honour conferred on the Super Falcons by Tinubu.
