The Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Prof Ibrahim Ahma Maqari, has said that Muslims don’t accept the crossing of some redlines.
His comment has been viewed by readers as a veiled reference to Thursday killing of a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Debora Yakubu Samuel.
“It should be known to everyone that we the Muslims have some redlines beyond which MUST NOT be crossed. The dignity of the Prophet (PBUH) is at the forefront of the redlines.
“If our grievances are not properly addressed, then we should not be criticized for addressing them ourselves,” Maqari said in a tweet on Friday.
Fellow students who lynched Deborah were seen in video boasting of their actions.
Many Nigerians have called for actions against the killers.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto have all condemned the killing of the female student.
