Police say several people are injured after a school shooting in Minneapolis, a major city in the US state of Minnesota.
State governor Tim Walz says the attack happened at Annunciation Catholic School – and calls it an “horrific act of violence”.
There is “no active threat” in the area and the shooter has been “contained”, a local official says.
Several ambulances are at 53rd Avenue and Bryant Avenue South, according to the BBC’s US partner CBS News, which also cites law enforcement sources as saying up to 20 people may be injured.
The FBI, state patrol and Minneapolis police are all at the scene.
In a latest update, three people, including the shooter, have been confirmed dead while 10 others are in critical condition at local hospitals, according to the BBC’s US partner CBS News.
Six injured children are being treated at Children’s Hospital of Minnesota, a spokesperson for the facility says.
“Our teams are trained to respond in times of crisis, and are fully prepared to care for impacted children,
“We will not share more details to respect the privacy of our patients and families.” The hospital said. BBC
