At least three people have been confirmed dead with one Police Inspector injured in clash between traders and land grabbers in Lagos.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Lagos State Police Command.
The incident reportedly occured at the Owode Onirin market with one Abiodun Ariori alleged to be responsible for the mayhem.
In the wake of the clash, the Lagos Police Commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh had , according to the statement, personally led a combined team of Police detachment comprising personnel of the Command’s operations department, the Police Mobile Force, Rapid Response Squad, Tactical squads and Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to the affected area and normalcy was restored.
The roads were reopened to traffic and people started going about their lawful businesses.
While noting that the injured officer involved in clash is currently in critical condition, the Police declared Ariori wanted.

The wanted suspect, further identified as the CEO of Prosperous Ariori Golden Venture Limited, was alleged to have secured the service four policemen outside the Lagos Police Command to orchestrate the chaos.
The four officers have reportedly been arrested and detained at the Command headquarters for orderly room trial for going on illegal duty with the wanted suspect.
