The 2023 Labour Party’s Lagos Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has accused the state’s Police Command of lying over the attack on African Democratic Congress (ADC) members and destruction of the party’s rally venue by suspected political thugs at Alimosho Local Government area.
NPO Reported that the ADC”s planned event at the Alimosho LGA was last week disrupted.
The event which Rhodes-Vivour claimed to be for medical outreach and creation of job opportunities for Aliomosho residents was allegedly sabotaged by the Police Command which deployed its personnel to seal off the venue of the event.
The alternative venues arranged by the event organisers were allegedly destroyed by political thugs.
Addressing newsmen after the incidents, Rhodes-Vivour accused the police of being influenced by the ruling party, the All Progessives Congress (APC) to stop the ADC from holding any event in the area.
He also accused the police of providing cover for the thugs who stormed the alternative venues for the event and destroyed the tents, chairs, and other equipment at the venue.
The Police had in reaction dismissed the allegations, stressing that it had only deployed its personnel across the council to ensure peace and protection of lives and properties.
However, Gbadebo Rhodes-Viovur media team would in a post on their official X handle on Monday provide video evidence of the attack.
The first clip showed the moment the thugs arrived at the church where the ADC had planned the hold the event after the police’s sealing of the main venue.
Another clip revealed the moment Rhodes-Vivour arrived at the church premises to challenge the police officers blocking the entrance of the building.
The third clip showed an eyewitness recounting the hoodlums attack with one of the ADC members injured during the attack standing beside her.
As seen in the last clip, the ADC alternative venue was utterly destroyed with canopies turned over and several chairs and public address system left in ruins.
