At least 40 worshippers have been kidnapped by suspected bandits in Zamfara state.
The bandits had reportedly attacked a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area of state barely a day after peace talk between some of the leaders and government officials in Katsina state.
NPO earlier Reported that the terrorist leaders who are largely under the wanted list of the Defense Headquarters were seen engaging in the dialogue with the officials while being heavily armed on Sunday.
Among the leaders of the insurgents said to be attending the meeting are Ado Aliero and Isiya Garwa
One of them is reported to have masterminded the killing of over 30 worshipers at the Mantau mosque Manufanshi and other cases of killings and kidnappings in the Katsina area.
The outcome of the meeting however appeared to be of no significance in the Nortwest region as bandits again stormed the Zamfara mosque on Monday.
According to Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred during dawn prayers at about 5:30 a.m., when the gunmen stormed the mosque, surrounded it, and whisked away the worshippers at gunpoint.
Prior to today’s attack, another attack was reported on Sunday in Godai village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
The bandits reprotedly stormed the village around 3:41am, kidnapping 12 people.
