Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cut short his vacation for the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
NPO Reported that Makinde had last month notified the state House of Assembly on plan to embark on a one month leave from the 29th of August to the 29th of September.
The House which was on recess had held an emergency plenary session to receive the Governor letter.
However, the coronation of Oba Lamido which is to hold on Friday had seen the Governor written to the Assembly for early resumption.
The legislative chamber received and approved the notice of early resumption submitted by Makinde on Thursday.
The governor, in the notification letter, cited the historic and culturally significant Lamidi’s coronation as reason behind cutting his holiday short.
He announced that he will resume with immediate effect on Friday.
“I shall resume duty tomorrow, 26th September 2025, and hereby assume the full functions of the office of Governor of Oyo State,” the letter read in part.
Makinde’s return to duty ahead of schedule would see him personally oversee the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Mapo Hall in the state’s capital.
