Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has reignited speculations over his possible return to active politics and contest for the 2027 Presidential election as he was spotted at Abuja residence of the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, for a closed-door meeting.
Jonathan was paid a visit to Mark on Thursday in what many political observers and netizens considered to be ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Recall that former President lost his re-election bid in 2015 to the late Muhammadu Buhari.
While he had since shied away from active politics, his latest engagement with the leadership of the ADC has heightened rumours of possible return and eventual rerun for the seat.
No official statement has been released by Jonathan or the ADC chairman as regards the outcome of the meeting.
However, netizens and political observers were quick to commence the guess and presumption games as the raised speculations of Jonathan’s likelihood of going at loggerhead against President Bola Tinubu at the 2027 General election.
Mixed reactions have flooded the social media space with some labelling Jonathan as Tinubu’s biggest threat while others talked down the threat the former President poise against the incumbent.
