The newly coronated Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Abdulrasheed Ladoja, has charged President Bola Tinubu to ensure the creation of Ibadan state before the 2027 General Election.
Ladoja gave the charge during his first address as the new Ibadan monarch at the Mapo Hall on Friday.
While expressing his gratitude to the President for his presence, the former Oyo governor, who spoke in Yoruba, said the creation Ibadan state remains the priority of the people.
“My people sent me a message to Mr President. So, to Mr. President, our priority and demand is the creation of Ibadan State. We thank the President because he has done it.
“We want this done before 2027.” Ladoja said.
The Olubadan pledged to serve Ibadan people with all his might, stressing that the responsibility of modern-day monarchs is service to the people.
“We need to provide job for all unemployed youths in Ibadan. The responsibility of monarchs now is different. Our responsibility now is to serve the people.” He added.
Oba Ladoja further expressed his gratitude to the late Nigerian businessman and the June 12, 1993 Presidential election winner, Moshood Abiola, who was in attendance during his coronation as Jagun Mogaji.
The Olubadan noted that his coronation as the new Ibadan is a testament of Abiola’s prayer on him.
