A team of Police of operatives have been captured in a now viral video physically assaulting a driver while confiscating his car amid Independence Day celebration in Lagos.
The squad suspected to be attached to the Lagos State Police Command had reportedly trailed and overtook the driver to Surulere area of the state.
As seen in the video shared on X on Thursday, the driver was dragged out of the vehicle with two officers dishing two rounds of slaps at him before seizing his phone with a member of the squad taking over his car.
The driver was whiskered away in an unofficial vehicle that conveyed the rest of the team.
While the cause of his arrest is largely unknown, the assault on the middle-aged man had sparked mixed reactions from netizens who slammed the officers.
While some expressed their displeasure with the onlookers for not challenging the officers, others called out the State Police Command and the Police Complaint Response Unit over the incident.
