At least, 34 lawyers were in court on Monday to defend two major suspects arrested in connection with the killing of a 200 Level student of Shehu Shagar College of Education, Sokoto, Deborah Samuel Yakubu.
The lawyers were led to the court by Law lecturer at the Uthman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Professor Mansur Ibrahim.
The suspects being arraigned are Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunci.
One of them had displayed the box of matches with he set the lifeless body of Deborah on fire.
She was stoned to death and burnt last Thursday for alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.
The two suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.
They were arraigned on Monday at the Sokoto Magistrate court.
The prosecutor told the court that the body of the late Deborah was still in the morgue as investigations continued.
The magistrate thereafter adjourned the case over bail application for the suspects.
